History

The Servenco group of companies was founded in 1948, as a real estate development and construction company in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. An equal partnership between Jacob and Clara Steinberg, its official corporate name Serviços de Engenharia Continental was shortened to “Servenco.” The Servenco Group developed over 280 projects in Rio de Janeiro, primarily high-rise residential and commercial buildings totaling over 11,000 units sold.

In 1982, the Servenco Group created a New York City subsidiary and launched a new business renovating and managing mixed-use buildings. Its development and management projects included commercial buildings in Lisbon, Portugal, New York City, and Greenwich, Connecticut.

After 30 years based in New York City, Servenco moved its corporate offices to Old Greenwich, Connecticut in 2011 and ultimately reincorporated as Servenco Management Inc. Servenco continues to be family run by third generation family members and non-family, full-time professionals.
